GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
 It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.
 GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted. GIMP is available for Linux, Microsoft Windows and OS X.

This new version of GIMP comes with many fixes, including vulnerability corrections. It is highly recommended to update. It also provides a few interesting changes, such as:

 <li>Adobe ACB and ASE palette support</li>
 <li>New gradient: FG to Transparent (Hardedge)</li>
 <li>Some text tool algorithm enhancement when replacing formatted text</li>
 <li>Better theming of item locks (when hovering them or setting them active)</li>
 <li>Improvements in handling a few specific metadata</li>
 </ul>

A new stable releases with a lot of bug fixes and a few enhancements:

 <li>New template selector in "Canvas Size" dialog</li>
 <li>"Change Color" dialogs: color scale (0..255/0..100) and models (LCh/HSV) settings remembered across sessions</li>
 <li>New header with "visible" and "link" icons in item dockables</li>
 <li>Clipping layers better supported when importing PSD files</li>
 <li>Paths are now exported to PSD</li>
 <li>JPEG XL export added</li>
 <li>Metadata in JPEG XL import</li>
 <li>New option "Show reduced images" when loading TIFF images</li>
 <li>16-bit per channel export for raw image data</li>
 <li>More plug-ins got bug-fixes: DDS, WebP, Flame, Animation Playback, HEIF, Dicom and Help</li>
 <li>Color picking on X11 will ignore the Wayland portal; new implementation for color picking on Windows</li>
 <li>Check for updates fixed on macOS</li>
 </ul>

GIMP continues strengthening its bases with this new version 2.10.32 fixing many bugs and improving format support. Notable changes:

 <li>8 and 16-bit CMYK(A) TIFF files import is now supported</li>
 <li>BIGTIFF import and export are now supported</li>
 <li>JPEG XL files import is now supported</li>
 <li>DDS export has new "Flip" (useful for some game engine) and "Visible layers" options</li>
 <li>Other improved format supports: BMP, DICOM, EPS, RAW, TGA, WebP</li>
 <li>The screenshot plug-in on Windows has now an option to capture the cursor</li>
 <li>Several usability improvements in official themes and icons</li>
 <li>New support for localized glyphs ('locl') in Text tool depending on the value of the "Language" tool option</li>
 <li>More robust XCF import</li>
 <li>Several metadata handling improvements</li>
